Coaching Women and Girls

As more women and girls come to the sport of rugby, it is important that all involved in the game endeavour to make it as good an experience for them as possible. The aim of this module is to offer ideas and to encourage thinking on coaching methods which may help to recruit and retain more women and girls in the game.

Throughout this module there are video clips featuring Giselle Mather, (Director of Women's Rugby, Ealing Trailfinders, former Director of Women's Rugby, Wasps, England U20 Women's and Teddington RFC Coach) and Sir Wayne Smith (triple World Cup winning coach 2011 & 2015 All Blacks, 2021, played in 2022, Black Ferns) discussing some examples of the differences they have experienced between coaching men and women during their long and varied careers. The full video (40 minutes) can be viewed later in the module.
